Prayer Room
As we transition into our new facilities, our Prayer Team is excited about the opening of the new Prayer Room. The Vision for this Room follows what we have been seeking from the book, “The Prayer-Saturated Church,” which defines a Prayer Room as a room that is prepared with prayer targets, prayer guides and prayer opportunities. Such a room can become a central location for mobilizing intercessors to schedule time with God in a systematic manner. With defined prayer stations, one may focus their prayers on certain areas, and have the needed resources easily available. Examples of prayer stations include focus on the Church & its members, focus on the Pastors and staff, focus on specific ministries, focus on the community and the world, and focus on other needs.
Some furnishings have already been arranged, as follows:
A stained glass cross was donated by a friend, and Tony Astemborski is working on a cabinet for its light box;
Two prayer benches with padded kneelers have been ordered, and are expected in late January
A bookcase has been donated to hold a variety of books on prayer
Four chairs have been designated for the Prayer Room from the donated Collier collection of office equipment.
Our wish list would include some small tables to be located at the various prayer stations, along with some chairs for each station. We might need some other furnishings – clock, pictures, inspirational signs, CD player, books on prayer, etc., but those needs will be spelled out as we begin to put these furnishings together.
It would be our prayer that Members and friends of Christ Church will begin to use the Prayer Room as a place to closet themselves with the Lord and spend time in their own personal renewal and development, but also to focus prayers on many needs of this Body of Christ and the world. May each of you be blessed through your personal use of this Room, and may Christ Church be strengthened in its ministries because of the developing saturation of prayer in this Body.
If you have any furnishing that might be appropriate for the Prayer Room that you would like to donate, please contact Bob Shelton at 623-535-4690.
