Prayer Corner
In the Prayer Ministry’s efforts to develop a House of Prayer, we have been using as a guide the book, Prayer-Saturated Church by Cheryl Sacks of Mesa. She says “One of the first places to start in building your church into a House of Prayer is with prayer for your pastor and his family.” In the last several months, we have been in the process of creating a PIT Crew for Pastor Bob (PIT = Personal Intercessory Team). I am happy to report that we now have a PIT Crew that is operational, and it has begun undergirding Pastor Bob in his ministry, his personal life & health, and in his protection. Because of the nature of the Team’s call, it has been determined that the Crew Members will remain anonymous for the greatest effectiveness. If you have a prayerful need for Pastor that you think should be considered by the Crew, you may give it to me (Bob Shelton) and I will pass it on to their Crew Leader. Now that this aspect of the Ministry has been completed, we are now working on a similar PIT Crew Team for Pastor Brett.
Our Prayer Room’s plans are progressing. Tony Astemborski is trying to get the cross ready for the Dedication Sunday on February 12th. Prayer Team members are keeping their eyes open for tables and other accessories that may be available inexpensively, so that we can furnish several Prayer Stations in the Prayer Room. As soon as the Prayer benches arrive, we will begin to develop the Room into an orderly plan.
Our Prayer Ministry Brochure is approaching readiness, and it will soon be available to inform others of the different aspects of this Ministry.
We want to thank Pete Lamphere who is coordinating the new Adopt-A-Fireman Ministry, which has become a part of the Prayer Ministry. If you have not signed up to Adopt-A-Fireman, please do so. It is a meaningful way to keep our firemen undergirded with prayer for their protection and for their family & home life. See our Adopt-A-Fireman page on the church's website.
The Prayer Chain Gang continues to meet monthly on a regular basis. At our January meeting, Jeanette Simmons led a teaching on Fasting, using scripture and her personal experiences to guide our Group to some new understandings. What a blessing to everyone present; we are so grateful that Jeanette was willing to share this teaching with us.
On January 22nd, a video was shown to make members aware of and to encourage prayer for the Persecuted Church. Approximately 109 people viewed the video in the Library during each of the Fellowship times. For those that missed it, you may borrow the DVD and look at it at home; contact Bob Shelton, if interested. It is quite inspirational.
Please remember to send any Prayer Requests to our e-prayer address: prayinghands@cox.net . In nine months of 2011, we accounted for 230 answered prayers. Praise be to God on high!
