“He has shown you, O mortal, what is good.  And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.” (Micah 6:8 NIV)

But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”  (Acts 1:8 NIV)

The Christ Church family celebrates Jesus and the mission He has called us to undertake in this world as His hands and feet and voice.  We believe that there is no life He cannot impact, no heart He cannot reach, no hurt He cannot heal, no bondage He cannot break and no limit to what He can do through us if we open our eyes to the needs of the world around us.  We are passionate to take His good news – both by word and deed – to our community, state, nation and world – wherever our Lord calls us to minister to those those desperate for the hope that only Christ can bring.

The following is a summary of some of our more noteworthy mission activities and partnerships:

Agua Fria Food Bank

Some of the folks at Christ Church volunteer time at this local food bank to assist underprivileged families in receiving food and clothing.  Christ Church also serves as a collection point for the donation of food items as part of its “Pick Your Passion” ministry.
All Faiths Community Services – Folks from Christ Church volunteer their time helping to prepare and serve hot meals each week through the Community Kitchen Program.  Large numbers of people at Christ Church also partner with local churches to participate in an annual “Comm-UNITY Thanksgiving” event where thousands of meals are packed, prepared and delivered to the underprivileged on Thanksgiving Day.  Each spring, the Christ Church family raises funds to provide uniforms for local families who cannot afford uniforms for their school-aged children.

American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life

Christ Church and our local community have been deeply impacted by the effects of cancer.  Each fall, our Credo Youth Ministries teens and youth leaders raise money and participate in our community’s local Relay for Life event.

City of Goodyear

Our Credo Youth Ministries periodically participate in service projects geared specifically to supporting the efforts of the City of Goodyear.  Service projects include activities such as hanging door hangers for elderly support groups to city cleanup and fire hydrant painting.  The goal of each of these projects is to share the love and compassion of Christ in practical ways.

Days for Girls, International

Days for Girls is an organization that makes feminine hygiene kits for women/girls in underprivileged areas of the world.  Many from the church participate by sewing required items, packing the kits and writing small notes of prayer and encouragement.  Christ Church is always looking for donations for the cause as well and our folks are more than generous.  Donated items include: Gallon-size Zip-Lock freezer bags, girls’ panties sizes 10-14, travel soaps, safety pins, terry cloth washcloths, and 100% cotton cloth remnants in solids or prints.  Church Church has a drop off bin for donations located in the church breezeway as part of its “Pick Your Passion” ministry.  Days for Girls also has a local chapter in Surprise, AZ.

Feed My Starving Children

Christ Church has partnered with Feed My Starving Children – a Christian organization that packs millions of meals each year and ships them all over the world. Large groups from the church volunteer time a few days a year to pack meals at their Mesa, AZ facility.

Christ Church has partnered with Food for the Hungry to sponsor a small mountain village in Haiti (Las Aguas).  This sponsorship entails no less than yearly visits to Las Aguas to work with the local FH leadership and community members to build a better community for them and to spread the love and compassion of Jesus in practical ways.  People at the church have also sponsored over 50 children from the Las Aguas to provide them with food, medical attention, clean water and an education.

Helping Hands
The Deacons at Christ Church have a "helping hands" ministry to
assist the people of our congregation and community who may find it difficult to do some small/minor repairs around the house.  Ministry volunteers come alongside these individuals to to hang pictures, replace HVAC filters, replace lightbulbs and a host of similar needs.  Assistance can be obtained by contacting the church office.

Christ Church partners with Homeless Youth Connection – a local non-profit that raises awareness and meets the needs of homeless youth, so they can stay in school and graduate.  Christ Church serves as a drop off location for donated items as part of its “Pick Your Passion” ministry.  HYC is always looking for travel and full size hygiene items as well as feminine items.

Knitting for the Needy
A handful of people at Christ Church make hand-made blankets, hats, booties, and any other type of clothing for donation to various organizations around the community and beyond.  Newborns and preemies at Banner Estrella Hospital, active military personnel, the White Mountain Apache Reservation (AZ), the people of Las Aguas (Haiti), homeless teens in Phoenix, and AIDs orphans in Africa are just some of the recipients of these beautiful knittings.

New Life Ministries College Outreach Ministry

Christ Church sponsors a ministry partner who leads a college outreach program at Northern Arizona University called New Life Ministries. This is a program for college students to learn about Jesus and give their life to him.

Operation Christmas Child

Christ Church partners with Samaritan’s Purse to pack shoe boxes with gifts to send to underprivileged children who will also hear the gospel message.  This anticipated church-wide event takes place during October and November each year.

The Spring Church

This is an ECO Presbyterian church located in Tempe and specifically geared towards college-aged adults who attend nearby Arizona State University as well as some smaller local colleges.  Groups from Christ Church volunteer a couple of times per year to serve their congregation a meal after their Sunday evening worship services.  Christ Church also holds special offerings for this young and growing church to assist them in meeting their financial responsibilities.

Trunk or Treat

Christ Church holds this annual event as a great way to provide a safe place for children to spend their Halloween evening.  Participating members decorate the trunks of their cars and hand out candy/goodies to all the children. We also offer games and an option of purchasing cheap fair-style food provided by our Men of I.A.M. group.

Christ Church has partnered with VSUW to participate in the
Project Connect program. This program is offered 8-10 times a year throughout the valley to help end homelessness. The program is a full day event offering a wide variety of services to the homeless, veterans, or even families that are on the verge of becoming homeless.  Participants can obtain information for food and housing assistance, get new clothing, even take a shower and get a haircut. These are just some of the many services offered.

World Vision

Our Credo Youth Ministries has helped to raise awareness of the world hunger situation for many years by taking part in World Vision’s annual 30 Hour Famine.  Credo Teens typically raise

thousands of dollars each year to combat world hunger in children, youth and families.
